Earning a CLS certification provides proof of knowledge in all major lubrication areas including lubrication fundamentals; fluid conditioning; lubricant storage, handling and application; lubricant monitoring, analysis and consumption reduction; gears, bearings and seals; fluid power; lubricant manufacturing; pneumatics; transportation; metalworking; solvents and cleaners; hydraulics; compressor oils; grease and greasing systems, industrial gear oils, diesel and gasoline engine oils, 2-cycle engine oils, transmission (automatic and standard) fluids; and filtration – air, oil and by-pass systems. A CLS can be equated to a professional engineer, architect or attorney bar exam. Currently there are less than 875 CLS qualified individuals recognized in the United States.
